However, the presence of blood in Morrison's pouch can be used as a marker for significant haemoperitoneum. In these circumstances clinically one would expect shoulder-tip pain, but this is not always the case. Morrison's pouch is the potential space between Glisson's capsule of the liver and Gerota's fascia surrounding the kidney. Morrison's pouch along with Douglas' pouch are the most sensitive areas for the detection of free intraperitoneal fluid.
